El Torcal - Natural Park, Andalusia
| ![]() | |||
The El Torcal Natural Park is located in the Sierra del Torcal mountain range on the outskirts of Antequera and being less than a one hour drive from our self catering holiday accommodations, The Granero and The Villa, makes for a interesting day out. El Torcal is particularly renowned for its unusual limestone rock formations which at 1000 m above sea level originate from the depths of the ocean but have emerged through the passage time from the Jurassic Period and the Ice Age. El Torcal supports an impressive array of wildflowers and many species of reptiles. Other wildlife includes the Griffon vulture, the Andalusian mountain goat, and nocturnal mammals such as badgers and weasels.
